Big Rapids, Michigan and Reed City, Michigan are located in West Michigan, less than an hour North of Grand Rapids and about 45 minutes south of Cadillac. We are home to these great organizations and businesses:

​The Muskegon River flows through the area and offers opportunities for fishing, kayaking and more. The parks in Big Rapids and Reed City are perfect for adults and kids alike. We currently are sponsoring an exciting expansion project and updating our Hemlock Park with a splash pad, all new Pickleball, Basketball, Tennis courts, Kayak launch and more for the community and visitors to use.

These are just a few of the activities that allow everyone to view and enjoy the natural beauty here in Mecosta County, Michigan. Snowmobilers and cross-country skiers enjoy the outdoors during our snowy winters. Hunters and fishermen enjoy the woods and waters of Mecosta County, Osceola County, and Newaygo County year-round. 

If you enjoy trails as much as we do you'll love the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail State Park that runs from Grand Rapids to Cadillac, right through Mecosta County. The Dragon Trail at Hardy Dam is open, growing and absolutely one of the best trail systems in the state!

There are many lakes in our surrounding areas to enjoy boating, fishing and swimming. Mecosta County boasts 117 named lakes, Osceola County has over 50 and Newaygo 172. All wonderful areas it's impossible to pick a favorite but no matter what kind of water life you're looking for, quiet no-wake or all sports, we have a place for you. Canadian Lakes, is a beautiful water & golf community you should check out if you are interested in moving to the area.

Local residents enjoy our high quality of life in a rural setting with no traffic or crowds, all while having access to larger cities such as Grand Rapids nearby. Be it big or small, in the city or in the country, we love our backyard views!
