About Laura Veersma

I am a lifelong Michigan resident and have lived in Newaygo and Mecosta Counties my entire life. I graduated from Newaygo High School and began attending Ferris State University in 1989 where I pursued para-legal studies. My professional background is primarily Sales and marketing with a 10 year tenure @ the Pioneer Group where I sold advertising for their 16 newspapers throughout West Michigan and the lakeshore. My time working with small business owners helped me understand the unique factors in our rural community. My transition to real estate happened in 2002 when my Husband changed careers and started real estate investing which fueled by interest in the process. Using my previous sales, marketing and service background I decided real estate was something I could embrace. I can say that 24 years later I made the best decision for my family and my clients. I love the relationships that I have developed with this career and can proudly say I have worked with families for generations. I am humbled by the trust people have in my experience and I will never take that for granted.

Since childhood I have enjoyed water sports, primarily on the Muskegon River and our small inland lakes. Kayaking, pontoon boat rides and walks along the shore of any water are some of my favorite hobbies. I have two grown daughters that have spread their wings into Arizona and upstate New York, my favorite vacations are to travel with my husband to see our girls with their families and when we aren't doing that we like to go to sunny Florida where we have enjoyed many vacations in Melbourne Florida along the space coast.

As a community advocate I have had leadership positions with several non-profits. Currently I serve on the Project Starburst Board and have past BOD experience with the Chamber of Commerce, The West Central Association of Realtors, The Big Rapids Jaycees and my church admim board.

My previous career was a great building block for small business owners who want to work with a Realtor who understands many facets of business, along with that I have personal experience with commercial projects. In our community, my husband and I have successfully developed multiple commercial projects along with dozens of residential properties. I will always believe teamwork in real estate is better than the me, myself and I approach.
